Canada is making its way into the news once again these days, but it isn't for anything to kind towards the former British colony. Canada's health services are showing a rise in wait times for another year in a row. One recent examination of Canadian wait times by the Fraser Institute found that there were rises in all areas of health services and consultation wait times. But the real reason I am drawing your attention to the topic of Canadian healthcare is because of a paper I recently came upon by the National Bureau of Economic Research that compares Canadian health services to American services. The paper is an eye opener, and I encourage you to read it, as it details some common misconceptions of health services, such as using comparative life expectancy rates or healthcare costs per capita to determine the quality of that countries healthcare.
